Minneapolis, Minnesota – July 1, 2012 - Mid-America Healthcare Investors Network (MHIN) has elected Kathy Tune, Partner at Thomas, McNerney & Partners, as president of its board of directors. Kathy is succeeding Dan Broderick, the founder and longtime president of MHIN. Dan’s leadership and guidance over the past ten years have been invaluable to MHIN, and the board and the entire membership would like to thank Dan for his commitment and continued board membership.

Kathy joined health care venture firm Thomas, McNerney & Partners in 2003 and has been instrumental in building out the firm’s medical device practice. She is currently a board member of CAS Medical Systems, Inc. and VertiFlex, Inc., and has served in advisory roles to a number of medical device companies, including Torax Medical, Inc., Atritech, Inc. and AxioMed Spine Corporation. Prior to joining Thomas, McNerney & Partners, Kathy was a health care analyst at Piper Jaffray focused on medical technology companies. Her background also includes experience in new product development at Solvay, S.A. (in a division that is now part of Pfizer). Kathy was also a Senior Scientist in molecular biology at the University of Minnesota, where she worked on the development of molecular biology based assays for the detection of infectious agents. Her educational background includes an M.S. degree in Microbiology from the University of Minnesota and an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management, where she was a Robert and Gail Buuck Scholar.
